Auto-saves have become a staple item in video games over the past few years, but the latest entry in the Nier series takes things in a difference direction. As you start off your game, you’ll probably notice several notices that are there to warn players that the game does not feature an auto-save system. So, I am starting to play NieR automata on PC. But the prolog is horribly designed. Can't save the file before beating that massive boss. Problem is, my game crash before beating the boss. Create a new post, please give us additional information about the save file location and what option you like to be added. You have to zip/rar the save file(s) before uploading it (them) in this trainer thread. Click on the text box or the small paper clip icon where it says 'Attach file', select your zipped save file and submit the post.
Saving in Nier: Automata isn’t nearly as hard as one might think. In fact, all you really have to do is locate the right item, interact with it, and boom your game is saved. Don’t worry though, you can still save quite frequently, and you’ll never be unable to locate the Access Points that you have to interact with to save your game.

Saving in Nier: Automata takes place at various “Access Points” around the game world. These machines are located all throughout the game, so you shouldn’t have much of a problem finding them. While some of the Access Points around the game will be unguarded, others you find will be surrounded by a force field and several enemies. Taking down the force field is easy, though, as all you really need to do is kill the enemies guarding it.

Once you locate an Access Point, walk up to it and interact with it by pressing the Circle button on your Dualshock 4 controller. This will perform a Quick Save, which will override whichever save game file you last loaded. If you want to do a more traditional save, so that you can keep multiple save files active, you can open up the System Tab while in range of the Access Point and choose to save it to a specific slot. Likewise, so long as you are in range of the Access Point, you can also quick save at any point from the System Tab.
Manually having to save will take you some getting used to, but try to make sure you utilize every Access Point you come across. This will keep you from running into issues where you lose large chunks of game progress, which can be a massive disappointment for many when the bosses are as tough as they are in Nier. So, keep an eye out for Access Point as you progress, and save as often as possible. Nier: Automata is now available on PlayStation 4. The game will also release on the PC on March 17, so be sure to pick it up and dive in.
