Our Assessment:
This is a Winchester Model 92 chambered in .25-20 Winchester. The rifle is in about Good condition with about 45% of its original metal finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. The .25-20 was one of the original small-caliber, high-velocity cartridges, capable of being pushed more than 2,000 fps with a 60gr projectile in the era of black powder! In its day, it was popular as a small game round, but it's likely that savvy shooters found it was perfectly suitable for defense as well. Winchester 92’s of this vintage are always collectable, and it takes quite a bit of effort to collect one in every caliber and style. Please see our photos and good luck!
