Hauppauge May Be Readying WinTV v8 Software Release
Hauppauge appears to be getting ready to release new WinTV v8 software to replace its WinTV v7 software which has not received an update since cd 3.9f on 01/14/2015. Hopefully WinTV v8 will have significant improvements over WinTV v7. A 02/12/2015 test version was posted in their ftp directory which I have elected not to try at this time:

Also noted in the Test directory is 02/12/2015 driver source code in a Lin (Linux?) subdirectory. Perhaps Linux drivers for the new HVR-1265, HVR-2255, and HVR-955Q may be coming shortly:

Hauppauge has already updated the WinTV v8 test version today 02/13/15. To make sure you download the most recent version or future versions, go to the W8 directory and check the date:

Hauppauge has officially announced WinTV v8 which you can now download and activate using your original WinTV v7 cd disk or activation code. I have installed the new v8 software. They advertise new features. But except for a new look, it's basically the same as WinTV v7 with a few display glitches affecting the sliding time bar, i.e. this is just a cd 4.0 WinTV v7 update. The only improvement I have noted is that deleted recordings now go to the Windows Recycling Bin instead of vanishing forever if you unintentionally delete the recording. Whether issues causing WinTV to crash when marginal signals are received have been resolved, I can't say at this time.

Wintv V8 Download
Installed it and configured it for my HD PVR 2 (1512). I get sound but no picture on 'live TV' even though recordings it makes are apparently okay when played with VLC.
EDIT: With a lot of help from Hauppauge Tech Support, there are some things to know if anyone's using multiple Hauppauge devices or the HD PVR2 capture box. I'll post the workarounds in the 1512 thread.
